DAY 9 Tour Saigon & Cu Chi Tunnels

Today we begin on an emotional journey to explore the historic Cu Chi tunnels - 200kms of sprawling underground labyrinth that once served as a lifeline for Viet Cong soldiers during intense combat. Delve into the rich history of this intricate network, witnessing its role as a hideout, communication route, hospital, weapons factory and kitchen. Learn about the construction of these tunnels before a unique opportunity to crawl through a section, providing a visceral experience of the oppressive narrowness and heat within.
 
After our delicious lunch, we return to Saigon, ready to delve into a captivating city tour. See the Reunification Palace, a monumental witness to the culmination of the intense Vietnam War in 1975, now transformed into a museum and official reception hall. Following a delightful onboard lunch, we venture to Wat Nokor Bachey temple complex, celebrated for its rich cultural and historical significance. DAY 17 Kampong Cham to Siem Reap

This morning we bid a fond farewell to our beautiful rivership and the now familiar ebb and flow of the legendary Mekong River to take a splendid drive through the lush Cambodian countryside to Siem Reap - gateway to the mystical Angkor temples. On arrival, we savour a farewell lunch, bidding adieu to our cruise hosts as we prepare for the wonders that await in the coming days.
 
Siem Reap is a city steeped in both history and contemporary vivacity, offering a unique blend of ancient wonders and modern flair. Beyond the mystical temples of Angkor, Siem Reap discloses a bustling mosaic of markets, art galleries, and eclectic pubs and cafes. The vibrant night markets, aglow with a dazzling display of colourful neon lights, invite exploration and discovery, offering a taste of local crafts and enticing street food. The city’s quaint streets, lined with French colonial architecture, create an intimate setting where every corner reveals a story all its own - a captivating and colour filled destination that weaves its own irresistible narrative.
 
The surrounding Angkor Wat temple complex stands as an unparalleled testament to the grandeur of ancient Khmer civilization - a collection of over 70 temples, magically embedded within the lush grandeur of Cambodia’s ancient jungle. Their towering spires and intricate carvings quietly recounting the tales of an ancient time, where artistry and spirituality converged. The sun paints each temple in hues of gold, creating a magical atmosphere that brings the stone structures to life.
 
As we arrive into Siem Reap, we meet up with our local guide to embark on a fascinating cultural journey, commencing with a visit to Wat Thmei Pagoda. This sacred site houses a poignant memorial stupa containing the remains of victims of the Khmer Rouge. Serving as a stark reminder of the tragic events during the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s, the pagoda also stands as an active monastery where Buddhist monks engage in religious ceremonies. Explore the temple grounds, gaining insights into the monks' daily lives and the spiritual essence that envelops the area. Next, our expedition continues to the enchanting Angkor Silk Farm in Puok District - a place where tradition, artistry, and nature intertwine in the most beautiful way. As we arrive, we’re welcomed by a sea of vibrant green mulberry trees, their leaves the lifeblood of the silkworms that begin this remarkable process. Here, the magic of Khmer silk unfolds before our eyes as we are guided through each step of this ancient craft, from nurturing delicate silkworms to the painstaking extraction of shimmering silk threads. Master weavers bring vibrant patterns and textures to life on traditional looms. This sensory journey through Cambodian heritage culminates in a stunning showcase of silk garments, scarves, and textiles - each piece a testament to the patience, skill, and soul of its maker.

DAY 18 Explore Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom & Grand Circuit Temples

Today we delve into the ethereal wonder of the Angkor archaeological site. We commence our day with a journey to the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire - Angkor Thom - resonating with the grandeur of its monumental gateways. A compelling archaeological masterpiece that transports us back in time to the zenith of Khmer civilisation, we enter through the renowned South Gate (an impressive array of colossal human faces intricately carved in stone), visit the Bayon Temple (a unique marvel adorned with 54 towers embellished with over 200 smiling faces) and lose ourselves in the sacred ambiance of the Baphuon Temple (symbolising the holy Mount Meru, residence of the gods in Hindu tradition). Our fascinating pilgrimage through this historic city continues as we delve into the artistry of The Royal Enclosure, admire the grandeur of Phimeanakas, marvel at the intricate carvings along the Elephant Terrace and explore the mysterious sculptures on the Terrace of the Leper King. We then continue to the jungle-shrouded temple of Ta Prohm, where colossal fig trees and entwining creepers reach into the stone foundations giving the impression of man’s creation being reclaimed by the powerful forces of nature. Take a moment to explore Srah Srang, a significant Royal bathing pool traditionally used for ceremonial cleansing rituals. 
 
In the afternoon, our odyssey continues as we visit Angkor Wat, the iconic crown jewel of Cambodia's ancient Khmer Empire. A masterpiece of stone that transcends time, its towering spires and intricately carved bas-reliefs depict mythological tales and celestial narratives, creating a realm where history and spirituality converge - its spellbinding reflection in the surrounding moat adds to its breathtaking ethereal beauty. Angkor Wat is not just an architectural marvel; it's a spiritual pilgrimage, where every step whispers the echoes of a glorious past and offers a profound connection to the cultural heart of Cambodia. This afternoon, we immerse ourselves in this world-renowned temple, adorned with the world's longest continuous bas-relief. Carved on the walls, these reliefs narrate compelling stories of Hindu legends. Dating back to the 12th century, this colossal masterpiece sprawls across approximately 210 hectares. Wander through the expansive grounds, encountering galleries, columns, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and reflective ponds that mirror the grandeur of this towering temple. DAY 19 Explore Kulen Elephant Forest & Tonle Sap Floating Village

Today we revel in a soulful morning at the Kulen Elephant Forest before an intoxicating afternoon visit to the mesmerising floating villages of Tonle Sap. 
 
We begin our day with a scenic drive to the Kulen Elephant Forest, a peaceful sanctuary nestled in the lush foothills of the Kulen Mountains, where Cambodia’s rescued elephants now live in freedom and dignity. Be transported to a world far removed from the noise of the city - a place where nature breathes deeply and gentle giants roam free. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a warm introduction to the forest and the mission of the sanctuary, before meeting the elephants themselves. Standing face-to-face with these majestic creatures, you’ll feel an overwhelming sense of awe and respect. We embark on a gentle two-kilometre trek through shaded woodland trails, walking alongside the elephants as they forage, meander and simply enjoy being elephants again. Take part in preparing enrichment treats before heading to the forest pond where the elephants play and bathe with joyful abandon - a moving and unforgettable sight. This afternoon, we embark on an enchanting journey to Chong Khneas, a magical floating village nestled on the northern fringes of Tonle Sap Lake. This unique settlement is renowned for its collection of floating houses, schools, bustling markets and other intriguing structures. Glide atop the serene waterways on a fascinating boat tour, where we navigate through the whimsical maze of waterways, immersing ourselves in the vibrant daily life of this remarkable floating village.
